The question of why Kim Kardashian is so popular is something that eludes many people still. I was one of them.
There are a few reasons that she’s famous but that doesn’t necessarily make her a good role model.

The Sex Tape
Let’s be honest; Kim Kardashian really rose to prominence when the sex tape came out. Sex tapes have always done a lot for fame. From Pamela Anderson in the 90s to Paris Hilton in the noughties, Kim Kardashian continued a long tradition of filming yourself having sex for fame. Though not all sex tapes work out. Just look at Hulk Hogan’s. Better yet; don’t.
Kanye West
Another reason that Kim Kardashian is so popular and famous is that she is in a relationship with Kanye West, someone who is infinitely more famous than she would ever be if she wasn’t with him. A lot of her fame is secondary because of who Kanye West is.
She’s Trashy
We also need to continue the honesty here. After her sex tape Kardashian, much like Miley Cyrus, became very trashy and it contributes to her popularity. Should we really be glorifying a woman who published a heavily photoshopped picture of her butt? It seems that society today really seems to glorify the trashy girl. Or at least give them attention.
She Keeps Attention
Whether you like Kim Kardashian or not you have to admit that she does a very good job of keeping herself in the public eye. Kanye West is also very good at that. He’s a public figure and boy does he keep himself public. Kim Kardashian is very good at drawing attention to herself and getting people to pay attention to her. She dresses and acts provocatively and draws eyes towards herself.
Gossip Magazines
Continuing on with how well she draws attention, it’s also helped that everyone pays attention to her. She is all over the gossip and celebrity magazines that report on her every move. Magazines like this are the reason we have this big celebrity culture that we do. It’s so easy to fixate yourself on the life of someone else. It’s easy to forget that you can live a rich and rewarding life when you have that kind of thing shoved down your throat every day. It works though.
She Has Fans
Because of all of this Kim Kardashian has earned fans of her own. She has people who like her and will defend her and will buy anything associated with her. The fans are the main reason that anyone becomes popular and stays popular. They make or break any celebrity. Kim Kardashian would be nowhere without her fans and she’s very good at keeping them. So stay famous she does.
That Kim Kardashian is famous is undeniable. Whether or not she should be is another question.
Should we really be glorifying trashy people like this?
And saying they’re good role models?
That’s up to you to decide. But when you ask yourself why Kardashian is famous, ask yourself what happened to the good values too.
She’s hardly the only person that is famous for being famous, but she is a major player.
When you stop paying attention to people like Kim Kardashian you find they quickly disappear. Let’s have the same discussion in ten years’ time….
